GreenVoltis signs first Romania contract with SANY Group for 95 MWp solar and 218.8 MWh battery project

GreenVoltis takes on Chronos EMS, Aether trading and O&M on SANY Group's 95 MWp solar and 218.8 MWh battery project, its first Romania contract.

Scope covers Chronos power plant controller, Aether multi-market trading platform and O&M services. Site targeted for commercial operation by end of 2026.

Romania, 28 April 2026. GreenVoltis has signed its first commercial contract in Romania. The agreement covers a 95 MWp photovoltaic plant co-located with a 218.8 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) owned by SANY Group. GreenVoltis will deploy Chronos, its certified power plant controller, for site-level energy management; run Aether, its multi-market trading platform, across Romania's day-ahead, intraday, balancing and ancillary services markets; and deliver operations and maintenance on the asset. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 27 April 2026. Commercial operations are targeted for the end of 2026.

The contract follows the framework set out in the memorandum of understanding signed earlier with SANY Group. This first project moves cooperation from MOU to executed contracts, with additional co-located solar-and-storage projects planned in the region.

At plant level, Chronos handles real-time site control. Functions include curtailment management, frequency and voltage support, and coordination between the PV plant and the battery, executed at millisecond precision. Aether sits above Chronos at portfolio level. It dispatches the asset across day-ahead, intraday, balancing and ancillary services markets, stacking revenue across all four. The 218.8 MWh battery is sized to support both energy arbitrage between low-priced and high-priced intervals and the provision of ancillary services contracted by Transelectrica, the Romanian transmission system operator. GreenVoltis delivers operations and maintenance under the same contract, with asset performance data feeding back into trading and dispatch decisions.

For SANY Group, the contract activates the commercial relationship with GreenVoltis on its first operational solar-plus-storage asset in Romania. For GreenVoltis, the project is its commercial entry into the Romanian market and creates a reference site for further work with SANY and other developers across Central and Eastern Europe.

Beyond this contract, GreenVoltis is structuring an additional Romanian pipeline of around 1.5 GWh in utility-scale BESS and PV projects under negotiation with multiple counterparties. Both GreenVoltis and SANY are also evaluating further cooperation in adjacent areas where their capabilities are complementary.
